New LSBU Academic Expertise Database?

This morning I attended a demo of the COS (Community of Science) "Public View of Expertise" Database which LSBU is considering adopting to replace the existing RBDO Staff Expertise Database. It seems that few academic staff are conscientiously keeping their records up to date in this database, and since we (apparently) all already have entries in the COS Expertise database it makes sense to use that one instead - although the University will have to pay to have our pages made public.

It seems like a good idea. I asked whether our cv pages could be driven by the COS database and the answer was yes, although - again - this may cost the University some money. One advantage of the COS database is that publication lists and other data can apparently be imported and exported via XML files, so that we could perhaps build our own tool for data input and then periodically send the updated XML files for inclusion within the COS database.
