Google Labs Page Creator

I've been trying to use Google's new Page Creator system to create a new personal website. I was thinking of recommending it to other members of staff to use for their own personal websites, but I'm not sure it's ready for that. I had to hack the pages a lot - by inserting numerous snippets of HTML - in order to get them to look nice (to me).

The main plus points are that Google provides a generous 100MB of free web space and no adverts, at least at the time of writing. There are many negative points, although given that it's still a Google Labs experimental system I really shouldn't complain about it. The main drawback is that there's no way (at the time of writing) to create subdirectories, so it's only really useful for very small websites containing no more than a handful of pages and images. Also, the results (e.g. font faces) aren't consistent when viewed using different web browsers, which is a pretty basic fault in my opinion. Also, their default page size is too wide for an 800x600 display, which I've always thought was a basic accessibility requirement!

Here's a local copy of one of the pages I created using the Google Page Creator, from which I derived this blog page.
