StaffWeb Emailer & Archives

Mike C. has developed a pair of PHP scripts to implement the better staff announcements system; they archive messages in an SQL database, with the latest messages (per Department) being stored in include (.inc) files ready for server-side inclusion as appropriate. I think the system is great, and am sure that colleagues will appreciate it!

I tweaked Mike's scripts to integrate them into the new StaffWeb. Here is...

Here's the email I sent this morning to the Heads of Depts to encourage them to use the StaffWeb Emailer...
  

Dear HoDs,

Following on from what Geoff said at the Faculty meeting yesterday, this is just to remind you 
that you can now use the StaffWeb Emailer to send announcements to all the members of 
your department. The advantage of sending messages this way is that they will be stored in 
the StaffWeb Emailer Archives --

-- thereby creating an easily accessible audit trail. Also, your messages are guaranteed to 
reach everyone who is affiliated with your department according to the PhoneBook 
database. On the other hand, any messages you send this way will be visible to other staff 
too if they look in the archives, so you may not want to send all messages this way!
