Meeting with Geoff E.
I met with Geoff E. this morning to show him how the website was progressing. Here are some of the things we discussed/agreed:
- Geoff confirmed that the Dept acronyms we should be using are as follows...
- AF = Department of Accounting & Finance
- BIS = Department of Business & International Studies
- HRM = Department of Human Resources & Management
- ISIT = Department of Information Systems & Information Technology
- MS = Department of Marketing & Strategy
- MSFS = Department of Mathematics, Statistics & Foundation Studies
- SDCN = Department of Software Development & Computer Networking
- Geoff said that he very much liked the archive of news stories that James has been working on. We agreed that we should have additional news stories about our IiP and QAA successes; I need to contact Beryl M., Jon W. and Denice B. for input on those. We also need a story on Thor I., who has just taken up the new post of Business Development Manager for the Faculty.
- Geoff liked our new home page, but said that he preferred the look of the text in Suzanne's original version - which uses ariel rather than verdana, and is slightly smaller. He also slightly preferred the link rollover style in Suzanne's original, but said that he wouldn't object to a different rollover style.
- Geoff suggested that the BUSINESS page should link to pages covering these three areas...
- Industrial Placements (I should contact Claudia C. about this)
- The Business Development Office (I should contact Thor I. about this)
- Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (I should contact Allen L. and Vic L. about this)
- I mentioned that I have sent out a couple of emails to all of the Heads of Depts and Programme Directors asking for input for the respective web pages, and that I have had responses from all of the Programme Directors except one, but nothing yet from any of the Heads of Depts. Geoff said that the HoDepts are under pressure to do other things at the moment, and he advised me to wait a couple of weeks before chasing them up about this.
- I showed Geoff the Staff Listing facility that Mike has been working on, and I mentioned that Mike said he could create a BCIM version of the StaffWeb Emailer that we used to have within SCISM. Geoff liked this idea, but said that we shouldn't let this delay our finishing off the external website.
- I agreed to try to get the new website ready in time for releasing over the Easter break.
