James has now almost finished converting the news items/stories into the new format. The idea is to archive all news items from the inception of the Faculty (Sept 2003), as well as displaying current news. Along the way we decided to make some "rules"...

• we'll use the terminology "news item" to refer to the brief text and (possibly) single photo within the main news page, or (later) news archive page, and "news story" to refer to the longer version - if there is a longer version - for which we will have a separate HTML file
   
• every news item will be dated, and no two news items can share the same date (James has had to attach estimated dates for some old news stories)
   
• we'll use filenames of the form yyyy-mm-dd.xxx for news story files (in bcim/news/stories/) and images (in bcim/news/images/) - or yyyy-mm-dda.xxx, yyyy-mm-ddb.xxx etc. when there is more than one image for a particular story.

Soon I want to ask individuals for additional "previous" news items/stories. I'm thinking in particular of something more on our IiP success, and something on our 2004 QAA successes.
